Words of Wisdom

  • You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.

  • I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.

  • The evil that is in the world always comes of ignorance, and good intentions may do as much harm as malevolence, if they lack understanding.

  • Martyrs, my friend, have to choose between being forgotten, mocked or used. As for being understood - never.

  •  Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.
  • Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and be my friend.
  • There always comes a time in history when the person who dares to say that 2+2=4 is punished by death.
  • Absolute freedom mocks at justice. Absolute justice denies freedom. To be fruitful, the two ideas must find their limits in each other.
  • Some people talk in their sleep. Lecturers talk while other people sleep.
  • Truth, like light, blinds. Falsehood, on the contrary, is a beautiful twilight that enhances every object.

 Lao Tzu's Quotes

  • The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

  • Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small.

  •  Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power. If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich.

*****

Stop thinking, and end your problems!

What difference between yes and no?

What difference between success and failure?

Must you value what others value, avoid what others avoid?

How ridiculous! *****

  • Time is a created thing. To say 'I don't have time,' is like saying, 'I don't want to’.

  •   Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it.

  •  Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner.

  •  A man with outward courage dares to die; a man with inner courage dares to live.
  •  Because one believes in oneself, one doesn't try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn't need others' approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.
  •  If a person seems wicked, do not cast him away. Awaken him with your words, elevate him with your deeds, repay his injury with your kindness. Do not cast him away; cast away his wickedness.
  •  Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

I am awake

One day a student came to Buddha and asked, "Are you the messiah?"
"No", answered Buddha.
"Then are you a healer?"
"No", Buddha replied.
"Then are you a teacher?" the student persisted.
"No, I am not a teacher."
"Then what are you?" asked the student, exasperated.
"I am awake", Buddha replied.

 Buddha's Philosophy:

We live in illusion and the appearance of things. There is a reality. We are that reality. When you understand this, you see that you are nothing, and being nothing, you are everything. That is all.

Four rules to remember:
First, rely on the spirit and meaning of the teachings, not on the words;
Second, rely on the teachings, not on the personality of the teacher;
Third, rely on real wisdom, not superficial interpretation;
And fourth, rely on the essence of your pure Wisdom Mind, not on judgmental perceptions.

Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful.

Pay no attention to the faults of others, things done or left undone by others.
Consider only what by oneself is done or left undone.

He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.

An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind

Words have the power to both destroy and heal. When words are both true and kind, they can change our world.

Wisdom is the light by day, and Right mindfulness is the protection by night.
If a man lives a pure life nothing can destroy him;
If he has conquered greed nothing can limit his freedom.

Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds.

You only lose what you cling to.
